78s

This time we go a bit country with famous movie themes...

First side of our first pick is Tex Ritter's well known theme from High Noon, but Olavi does an interesting version of it too...
Olavi Virta: Mua älä hylkää / Lättähattulaulu

And second pick has the vocal group Metro-Tytöt doing Johnny Guitar:

shellacs

I mentioned "rillumarei" in the previous singles post, here is another singer of the same...and as Säkkijärven polkka has so far been the most downloaded single from here, on the other side there is a sung version of the same.

Jorma Ikävalko: Rumarellumarillumarei / Säkkijärven polkka

And then a bit more vocal groups, here's a couple of evergreens.

Metro-tytöt: Kielon jäähyväiset / Tosca

More 78s

A double feature from 50s, we have...

Somewhat following the success of vocal group Harmony Sisters started Metro-tytöt, though their preferences stick closer to folk songs, and the era of course is different too.
Here they however perform an Italian? song followed by a cover of Que Sera Sera, original made famous by Doris Day in that Hitchcock movie...

Metro-tytöt: Kaunis pesijätär / Kenpä tietäis sen

And then, yet again, Olavi Virta...this time doing version of Glendora (I am especially fond of the tinny percussion sound here) followed by more Italian originals whose name escapes me atm...

Olavi Virta: Ikkunaprinssi / Poika varjoisalta kujalta

Tango! on shellac

King of Finnish tango, Olavi Virta, recorded and issued two different times the single Mustasukkaisuutta / La Cumparsita, and here they are together for comparison:

1953 recording issued by Decca, and on La Cumparsita supporting vocal group is Metro-tytöt:

Three years later in 1956, released by Triola and on La Cumparsita support comes from vocal group Harmony Sisters:
